Devotional: Plans to Prosper You
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Here is an encouraging reminder that the Lord is actively working in your life today. He has great plans for you. He has a unique purpose just for you and He intends to set you up for success so that you will succeed in that purpose.
You may think that because your life is a mess, you’re not progressing fast enough, you’re making bad choices or that you’ve gone completely downhill…that these are signs that God has given up on you. That’s not true and you don’t know what the Lord is capable of.
It is God who can work with nothing and turn it into something. He can turn moments of prison into promotion. God can open the right doors and opportunities for you and change your course in an instant.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
Joseph’s Story
Joseph was destined for authority. His journey began with being sold into slavery by his own brothers. He was later falsely accused and placed in prison.
But the LORD was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the LORD made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden. Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The LORD was with him and caused everything he did to succeed. Genesis 39:21-23
Joseph’s reputation grew in prison because he was able to interpret dreams. After interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, Joseph was promoted to second in command over all of Egypt! It was the Lord that paved the way for Joseph to reach his purpose.
You just don’t know what God has in store for you. Just when you think that you’re alone, off course, a hot mess…God is pursuing you behind the scenes, making things happen just for you, and setting you up for success in whatever your purpose is.
The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
Psalm 37:23-24
“Father in Heaven,
Reveal and unfold my gifts, my plan & purpose to me at the right time. I pray that you will set me up for success in everything that I do, that is for you and your kingdom.
Shine favor over me, help me, guide me, and make a way just for me. I know you are working behind the scenes for me. I trust you with my life Lord even when things seem to go wrong.
Give me a bright future, use me in mighty ways. Make everything work together for the good in my life. Make firm my steps and uphold me when I fall. I pray and ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. ”
